When communicating with other users via Chat Channels it's important to remember all users within the channel who are using either the iOS or Android Chat Channel apps will be sent an app push notification.
If you are not receiving push notifications please ensure that push notifications are enabled.
iOS
When the iOS Chat Channels app is first launched users will be prompted to either 'Allow' or 'Don't Allow' push notifications for the app. All users should 'Allow' push notifications to be received. If a iOS user needs to manually enabled push notifications for the Chat Channel app please follow the below steps.
- Open the iOS Settings app.
- Scroll down the settings page where the list of installed apps appear and tap on the Chat Channels app.
- On the settings page select 'Notifications'
- Enable setting 'Allow Notifications'
- Push notifications for Chat Channels are now setup.
Android
Android push notifications are enabled by default. If push notifications have not been automatically enabled here are instructions on how to enable them.
- Open the Android Settings app.
- Select 'Apps' from the setting menu.
- Select 'See all apps' option.
- Find and select the 'Chat Channels' app.
- Tap on the 'Notifications' option.
- Enable 'All Chat Channel notifications' option.
- Push notifications for Chat Channels are now setup.
Further Troubleshooting
If you are still not receiving push notifications the next step would be to logout of the Chat Channels app and then log back in. Doing so will re-register your Sentinel account for push notifications and should allow the app to receive push notifications.
iOS
Here is how you logout of the iOS Chat Channels app.
- Open Chat Channels app.
- Select the 'Directory' tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the 'Logout' link in the top right hand corner of the app.
- You will then be logged out of the app.
Android
Here is how you logout of the Android Chat Channels app.
- Open Chat Channels app.
- Select the 'Settings' tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the 'Logout' button.
- Confirm you would like to logout of the app.
- You will then be logged out of the app.
